ARC Arquitectura Representación Computación (www.salle.url.edu/arc) is an interdisciplinary research group dedicated to the integration of information and communication technologies in the area of architecture. It is formed by architects, engineers and graphic designers, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students who participate in the research projects. The group was formed in 1999, and since then it has developed an intense and internationally recognized research. The result of this work has been the conception, development and implementation of innovative educational environments using ICT to promote an interdisciplinary, open and participative learning. Among these it is important to point out SDR: NETWORKING, integrated in the subject Representation Systems, used at La Salle Architecture since the academic year 1999-2000; FIXA’T-HI, an educational environment to develop the perception of the territory; IMAGENET, a library relation images and concepts; and ARKINET, an environment that facilitates the collective construction of knowledge using conceptual maps. At the same time, tools have been created to promote the ability to create shape and perception of space, among others: IN-SPACE, to give shape to space; I-LINE, to create linear shapes; the I-GRID, to compose from color. ARC has participated and directed national and international research projects. It currently participates in the INTUBE project, Intelligent use of buildings' energy information, financed by the el 7th General Framework Program, and coordinates the project OIKODOMOS, a virtual campus to promote the study of dwelling in contemporary Europe, financed by the Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Union. Between 2005 and 2009, the group developed the project BARCODE HOUSING SYSTEM, an industrialized housing design and construction system, financed by the National Plan of R&D, and between 2003 and 2006, the repository of housing cases in Europe HOUSING@21.EU, financed by the Erasmus Intensive Programme.

Iam Investigació Arquitectura Mediterrània has the finality of studying Mediterranian architecture in the areas of project, technology and territory.
This group, led by Dr. Architect Robert Terradas Muntañola, has developed its research activities since 1998, and through its work it has celebrated exhibitions, conferences, publications, research, doctoral thesis, as well as exchanges with universities and agreements with institutions and public administrations. The research work of this group is directed to finding formal and technological solutions that are characteristic of Mediterranean construction from Project criteria, observing the principles of establishment within the territory, the use of particular materials and construction methods, or the repeated presence of certain spaces and unique climate protection systems. All these constructive and urban values are found in the popular architectonical tradition, and they are incorporated in modern architecture to be used as models, not only in their original environment, but also in farther places and cultures. The idea is to recover these systems, elements and specific formal, constructive and establishing mechanisms to, with a technical and critical assessment, suggest actions to solve contemporary problems such as the occupation of territory or buildings sustainability.
The activities of the group are supported by the research and teaching carried out in the Official Master and Doctoral Programme “ Integrated Architecture Project”, through two of its lines of research: “Project and Technology” and “City and Territory”.
