The information of this section does reference to the new program of doctorate that is in process of verification: Program of doctorate in Engineering, Architecture, Gestión and Geofisíca by the University Ramon Llull.

The aim of the studies of doctorate is to offer a training advanced in technicians of investigation to the student, which will have to elaborate and defend a thesis doctoral that incorporate original results of investigation.
The length of the studies of doctorate is of a maximum of three years to complete time, from the admission of the doctorando/to to the program until the presentation of the thesis doctoral. Also prevee the possibility to do the studies part time.

According to the article 6 of the RD 99/2011, of 28 January, whereby regulate the educations of doctorate, the requirements of access are:

To be in possession of the official titles of degree, or equivalent, and of máster university.

The same way, will be able to access those that find in any of the following suppositions:
a) To be in possession of an official university title Spanish, or of another integral country of the European Space of Upper Education, that allow the access to a máster in accordance with the established in the article 16 of the RD 1393/2007, of 29 October, and have surpassed a minimum of 300 credits ECTS in the group of official university studies, at least 60 of which will have to be of level of máster.
b) To be in possession of an official title Spanish of Degree, whose length was of at least 300 credits ECTS, according to norms of community right. The people titled will have to cursar obligatoriamente the complementos of training to which refers the article 7.2 of this norm, unless the plan of studies of the title of degree include credits of training of investigation, equivalents in formative value to the credits of pertinent investigation of studies of máster.
c) The people titled university that, after obtaining the square in training in the corresponding proof of access to squares of skilled sanitary training, have surpassed with a positive evaluation at least two years of training of a program for the obtaining of the official title of any of the specialitys in Sciences of the Health.
d) To be in possession of a title obtained according to educational systems foreigners, without need to recognise it, after the university have checked that this title accredits a level of equivalent training to the one of the official title Spanish of Máster University and that empowers to the country that issues it for the access to studies of doctorate. This admission will not involve, in no case, the homologation of the previous title of the person interested neither the recognition of this title to other effects that are not the access to educations of doctorate.
e) Be in possession of another Spanish title of doctorate obtained according to previous university ordinations.
Likewise, the candidate will have to fulfil with the own requirements of the Program:
The admission will realise in base to a personal interview with the Coordinator of the program or tutor. The documents to present will be:

Have competitions in any of the fields of knowledge of the program and motivation for the realisation of the activity of investigation

Motivation for the development of the thesis and possible lineas of work

Training in methodology of the investigation

Other merits that the organ of admissions consider timely
After the interview, the tutor or program coordinator will move to the Standing committee of the program his assessment of the candidate with a proposal of allocation of tutor and, if it’s possible, of thesis supervisor. in addition to a proposal to undertake additional training, if any , in his case, and the Standing committee of the program will study the documents contributed.
The coordinator will issue a report justified of acceptance, no acceptance or provisional acceptance (this last case if the candidate had to undertake additional training) until the obtaining of the competitions required for begining the thesis doctoral that will be validated by the academic Commission of the program.
Once communicated to the candidate his acceptance, this will proceed to enrol in the studies of doctorate. It will not consider active inside the program until the credit of the corresponding academic taxes.
The foreign candidates will have to be in situation to be able to accredit these requirements of equivalent form (certified copy of his degree, academic file and in his case, necessary legal requirements to reside in Spain).

The framework of the doctoral programs of the Ramon Llull University, in the aspects related to the organization of PhD, stated in Article C.3

The doctoral research period is usually three or four years and does not provide specific training credits. However, depending on the profile and the research of the candidate may be appropriate conducting training complements.
Regardless, each of doctoral training continuously receive their personalized and direct supervisor to resolve problems that arise on a daily basis and for the presentation and implementation of research projects of the group. In addition to the project research, doctoral training activities take place that should be in your document regsitrades activities doctoral courses, preparing technical reports, conference contributions, participation in seminars and conferences organized along Course on the topics of the doctoral program in order to maintain a continuous activity of training and exchange of knowledge within the scientific research. Be evaluated positively the publication of the results of the thesis in journals of high impact and attend conferences where they can present and discuss their thesis work.
Training activities must be validated by the director and tutor of the thesis that rise to Academic Committee for approval and subsequent registration in the document of the doctoral training activities.
Supervision of the thesis:
The responsible for the supervision of the thesis is the program academic committee. The program will have a tutor for each of the major areas of knowledge related to the research groups. Tutors will be chosen by the program director between supervisor candidates. The tutor assigned to the student will be aware that the area corresponding to the thesis topic. The guardian, according to the program director, supervisor propose the most appropriate according to the interests and affinities expressed by the student.
Monitoring of the thesis:
Once admitted to the program and have enrolled, the school secretary will record the information system. This register is incorporated different activities of the candidate. They will have access to the director or directors, the tutor and the student, in addition to coordinating the program and the general secretary of the center.
Activities will be scored by the student and validated by the principal except that the definition of the activity has another procedure. In the period prescribed by the current legal framework, the student must submit your research plan which shall include:

The state of the art of the thesis topic.

The description of the work methodology.

The objectives of the thesis.

The materials necessary for the achievement of objectives and a description of how to acquire them.

The time schedule of work including an estimate of the publications.

Eventually, planning a stay at a foreign research center.
These data will be entered in a document validated by the director or directors and tutor who include a brief report. The research plan is stored in the information system and will be subject to public presentation.
Also, all activities will be recorded that the director considers appropriate as work plans and annual monitoring reports. The annual reports will include a brief report describing the activities and progress of the candidate, as well as an update of the research plan. Again, the document will be validated by director and tutor who adjutarán a brief report, included in the information system and will also be subject to public presentation.
Rules for the presentation and reading of theses:
The instructions for the processing of a doctoral thesis are governed by Article C.3.5 .
For the presentation of the dissertation, the doctoral student will be required to have passed the quality control system that determines the academic committee and will be contained in a document to be distributed to doctoral candidates. Items are valued in journals indexed by the criteria of rating agencies, patents, contributions to international conferences and stays at foreign institutions of prestige.
Besides the development of the work of the thesis document must contain the state of the art on the topic of work, problem definition thesis with the work plan and conclusions followed by highlighting the contribution and including a critical assessment of the results . Once drafted the document, it must be validated by the director or directors and the tutor. Once this happened, the director of court make a proposal to the program coordinator, who should proceed to submit the thesis document experts to produce the report.
The thesis committee will consist of three members, a president, a secretary and a vowel, as the restrictions defined legal framework. Eventually, the director may request a tribunal of five members, motivating to the academic committee. As far as possible, ensure that at least one member is from a foreign university. The program academic committee will assess the reports and authorize the submission of the thesis according to general rules. Also validate the proposed tribunal to raise it to the doctoral committee of the URL. To continue the Ph.D. program, students must maintain a reasonable daily activity to develop the research approved by the department under the direction of his thesis.
The ordinary duration of doctoral studies for the realization of the thesis is three years full time, counting from the registration of the candidate in the program until the presentation of the thesis. Notwithstanding the foregoing, a PhD may be part-time prior authorization of the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Program. In this case, the maximum duration of studies is five years from the registration of the candidate and the submission of the thesis.
After this period of three years standard, retention of a student to the program should be sent to the Academic Committee of PhD consent of thesis director, exposing reasonably causes extension of it. The Academic Committee of PhD Program may authorize the extension of the period for one year, which could be extended exceptionally for one further year. In the case of part-time study may be permitted to extend for two more years and, exceptionally, be extended for one further year.
Likewise, the student may apply for temporary downturn in the program for a maximum period of one year, extendable to another year. This request should be addressed and justified to the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Program, which will rule on the merits of the request for access to the PhD.
If after the above deadlines the student does not submit a thesis or presentation in two consecutive annual reports get a negative evaluation, registration rights expire, giving your membership in the doctoral program.
However, if you get into this situation, but the student believed to be due to a serious cause, may apply to the Academic Committee of PhD study the possibility of not having to abandon these studies. The Academic Committee of PhD program must issue a reasoned report on whether to recommend the retention of the student in the Ph.D. and raise it to the Standing Committee of the Academic Board, who will make the final decision and notify the student through the Secretariat General.
